STORYLINE

 

Lisbon, 1506. Leonor and Benjamim are two teenagers in love. She, from a traditional family; he, from a family of new Christians of Jewish origin. While Portugal thrives from the trade from the Indias, famine and plague devastate the city, leaving it at the mercy of religious fanaticism which, in April, leads to the massacre of thousands of Jews - men, women and children. OThe romance is cut short in the devastation. But Leonor survives, only to discover that love transcends death itself.
